Following on from MLM On Line Home Business 1 & 2 In order for you the reader, to get a better understanding, I will give you an overview of my personal experiences on the road to success.
The lessons learnt can easily be applied to whatever niche or media you have chosen.
To recap, we have already discussed the important basic essentials, but for those who haven’t already read the posts, here are the key points again:

Whichever niche or media you decide to promote or use, the basics are fundamentally the same.
When I started out with my MLM On Line Home Business, I really did not have a clue where to start and after much research, decided to join the Plug In Profit Site due to the low start up costs associated with it. This opportunity gave me a Free web site and came preloaded with 6 different programs which I could choose to join or not. Some were free to join and others required a subscription. As I did not have a particularly big budget, I opted to join only the free programs.
If any of you reading this have decided on promoting an affiliate program as your niche, consideration of your budget when joining such programs, can be the difference between success or failure. Opting for the free to join programs is perhaps the best way for anyone new to MLM to start their new venture as it offers a low risk.
Being green to the MLM world, I now had my new web site and the free programs within it. All I had to do now was get visitors / traffic to it and I would start making money on line I was excited to say the least. I had my new web site and I was going to make it big in the MLM world and I wanted it to happen overnight. Like so many others who join such programs, my expectations were high. I had speed read the tutorial that came with the program and basically followed all the recommendations as to which other products I needed to subscribe to in order get my visitors. Suddenly, it hit me! My credit card was maxed out! This was my first big mistake and so early into my Home Business venture too. I had not set a budget! A hard lesson to learn when you are bursting with excitement.
It is a sad fact, that many people who have done what I have done, on realization of their mistake, cut their losses and quit their Home Business, very often blaming the program they joined when in reality, there is no one to blame but themselves.
Having realized my mistake, I took a step back, I quelled my excitement and faced up to reality. Time now to reflect on my course of actions. If I was to be truly successful, i had to get the format right. What was the best way forward from here? It was pretty obvious really, read through the tutorial again, but this time, digest it properly.
The first thing that stood out when re reading the tutorial, was that the recommendation’s to purchase or subscribe to other programs, were literally that. Recommendations! There was no suggestion that I had to subscribe to them, but on the contrary, to subscribe only if my budget allowed. Many people from all walks of life join these programs and as such have varying degrees of budget. The program in this case, is set up to cater for all budgets. Speed reading information such as this is not advisable. Another lesson learnt.
Now having a better understanding of the program, I started to unsubscribe to certain services / products, which although recommended, would be of no benefit until I started to see volumes of visitors to my site. That then, was to be my next focus, to get traffic to my site. Never mind what programs I was promoting, I needed visitors as without them, I had no business, just a nice looking web site.
It was at this point, having re read the 30 day to success tutorial, I discovered The Pips Warrior Forum, which is recommended within the tutorial. My first visit there was a jaw dropping experience. If only I had joined here (free to join) sooner. The people active within the forum, vary from newbies like myself at the time, to very experienced marketers. All with a common goal, to help each other succeed in their business. The advice given to me was first class and following this advice has led me to where I am today.
As far as getting traffic is concerned, the advice given was to set up a blog and to do blog posts daily, write articles, submitting them to various ezines, my favorite being ezine articles due to the popularity of the site. Following this advice, cost me nothing but time and very quickly I began to see the power of blogging and article writing. I was starting to get more visitors to my site which was linked to my blog.
The by product of getting visitors, was also an increased page ranking within both Google and Alexa. This is mainly due to the fact that because my blog is linked to my site, every time I post to my blog, I am generating fresh content for my site and this is one of the most important factors that search engines love.
As the learning curve for anyone starting out with a new online home business is quite steep, I will continue with my experiences within future posts.
The lessons learnt here so far however, need to be digested and if you truly wish to be successful, do not make the same mistakes that I did.

Let’s look back at a bit of history with search:
Traditionally, SEO was all about gaining higher rankings for the most important keyword phrases. That was early in the game and back then, some people believed that was ALL you needed. After all if you show up number one for the best keywords then you must become a winner. But then as search engine marketing evolved, people learned that it was not enough just to have top rankings for the right key phrases, but we learned the importance of being able to provide content that compelled the visitor to take action. No one benefits if they click on your number 1 page and just leave again by clicking the back button.
More and more search engines began to reward Webmasters who created in depth, high quality content that served a useful purpose and actually satisfied the reason why the searchers initiated the search in the first place. It still amazes me when I hear people trying to decipher some kind of secret coding when Matt Cutts talks. “Hmmm, I wonder what Matt really means when he talks about quality content,” they puzzle. He is simply telling you the truth. Google can recognize the context of a message through Artificial Intelligence. Write content that is written well for a human reader and you will be rewarded with some relevancy.
Let’s not forget the advent of the Pay Per Click process which was a pretty big trend when it was first introduced at the time too. I remember some people saying that they would never do Pay Per Click, but it evolved into what it has become today. A well accepted form of paid advertising.
Your job as an SEO professional is to keep up to date in an ever changing environment and keep yourself apprised of current and future trends. You want to keep yourself aware of what is coming next because that way, you’ll always be able to assist your customers with up to date skills and advantages regardless of the changing search landscapes.
This time around, we examine a few of the challenges that SEOs will face in the future with the growing popularity of personalization of search. Personalization is the option that people can toggle on to improve their search results based on their personal interests. With personalization turned on, the search engine can gather information about the history of your searches and as the time you use it increases, it can actually become accustomed to your searching habits so as to present information that is more important or more interesting to you personally, than to someone else.
So where does the challenge come in with SEO you ask?
The challenge is that as the popularity of personalization grows so will there likely be a diminishing effect on your ranking reports. In simple, it means that 4 people in the same household could all be taking turns using the very same computer and doing searches for the very same keyword phrase, and yet each person would typically see completely different results because of their personal use of the Internet and a growing history of different interests.
What this means is that you no longer can tell exactly what your ranking reports mean because where you rank for one person will not be the same as where you rank for the next person or the next. Thus ranking reports could very well become meaningless in time.
It should be understood that with personalization turned on, the search engine is not using a different algorithm. Instead, the algorithm is the same, but there is a shuffling of results based on the particular individuals history of usage. The search engines attempt to serve up even more relevant content to that individual based on their personal interests.
This in turn means that it could become very difficult to determine where your ideal buying audience is finding you because you will no longer be able to simply do a search and see who is ranking number 1. Obviously if you are interested in your own products and you own industry, you site may come up in the top results when you search. But what is the rest of the world seeing? With personalization growing in popularity, there is no way you can use the traditional methods to know.
Personalization of Search may bring a new dimension of satisfaction by providing the user with much more personalized results. After all, everyone wants the best search results. However, it is bound to pose a few challenges for those who have never thought out what is really happening and the far reaching impact that it will have with posing certain challenges with respect to traditional search engine marketing. As I mentioned in part 1, there are solutions. But we feel that it’s important to help SEO students grasp the implications of how much things could possibly be affected.
So what are others saying about how big this change will be?
Michael Marshall is a respected SEO associate educator and advanced mathematician who has taught with Robin Nobles and I over the last several years. Michael is a technical expert who often teaches at our Ultra Advanced Symposiums.
Here is a recent quote from an article that Michael published he states that:
“Without a reliable means of rank checking, traditional SEO loses its foundations for optimization decisions. They can’t tell who the leaders are. They’ve lost sight of the bellwethers. A bellwether is any entity in a given arena that serves to create or influence trends or to presage future happenings. Without a bellwether, for example, sheep might be left to wander aimlessly. Without a reliable means of rank checking, traditional SEO also loses its metrics for determining its success or failure regarding changes made for the sake of optimization. Traditional SEO is a process the methodology of which is predominantly trial and error.”

In his article, Michael Marshall does far more justice to the topic than I can, on a technical level but also see full quotes he has from an IBM Distinguished Engineer Mike Moran and how large he estimates Personalization will affect the future.
The solution to the challenges of the effect of personalization is being able to grasp the big picture. Gone are the days of counting characters in a Title tag or Description tag. Trying to measure SEO influences separately one at a time will be obsolete.
Advanced competitive intelligence is not just a new “buzz” word.
The type of solutions to these challenges will actually have a variety of excellent benefits other than just gaining genuine visibility.
Try and imagine being able to do search marketing and optimization in only the minimum of moves, making only the minimum of changes for your exact search landscape and making maximum impact.
Will these techniques really be possible in the future you ask?
No, actually they are available right now so you can begin to stabilize your results and prepare for the changes. No one can say for sure the rate at which personalization will make it’s impact. The sad thing for some who are unawares is that with only slow and subtle changes over a given period, they may never even realize what is happening other than their traffic is dead and sales have stopped. So we start by making our students and readers aware.

Do You like My Blog?
Since this blog was set up at the end of May 2008, I have had numerous comments from people commenting on my posts, about how much they like my blog.
Well I have a confession to make, the blog itself was initially set up for me by a gentleman called Jeff Houdyschell.
You see, I am not that technically minded and wanted a Wordpress blog hosted on my web site. Following the recommendations of others, I contacted Jeff who as far as I am concerned, did a fantastic job. Not only did he set the blog up for me, but it was seo’d according my criteria and set to auto ping. In addition, Jeff loaded a selection of “Themes” for me to choose from. All this was done in an extremely short time frame and at a very reasonable and low cost.
Since having the blog live and following the guides that Jeff offers in his support blog, I have basically made the blog my own and tailored it to suit my personal preferences.

Keeping within my mandate of giving unbiased reviews of “Income Opportunities” and “On Line Training Programs”, the following is a review of the Plug-In-Profit-Site Power Group -(PIPS Power Group), (PPG).

These tests are coordinated in a format not just by the mentors, but also active PPG members, to give the reader facts and figures, enabling them to make an informed decision as to whether or not they should join such an opportunity or buy the product in question.

There are from time to time, special offers made exclusively to PPG members. For example, Suzanne Morrison offers discounted rates for some of her services to PPG members.
Subscriptions:
To ensure new members get the full benefit of the PPG, a minimum 3 month subscription is required. I would like to tell you about a guy I know, not personally mind, but none the less, a guy I have nothing but admiration and respect for.
Some months ago, I, being close to retirement (5 years from now), suddenly realized I had no where near enough retirement income even with my private pensions. Subconsciously, I began to panic and decided to explore ways of generating an extra income.
I thought about setting my own business up within my present trade (I am an engineer), but this would require a lot of capital and energy, which I have to admit, I have little of these days. In addition, I had previously owned my own business which sadly failed due to a changing market place, so it didn’t take me long to rule this option out.
I began searching on the internet for inspiration. The internet as I am sure you know, is rife with “Get rich quick schemes” and trying to make sense of the bombardment of so called opportunities was like trying to find your way out of a maze. I just didn’t know which way way to turn.
I had heard of people making fortunes with their www home business as I am sure you have, but I just had no idea where to start.
I had also heard of people getting their fingers burnt and with such a small amount of spare capital, I was not about to let myself be a statistic, so gave up on the idea.
A few weeks later, I again started to think of making an income on line. I had previously bookmarked a few sites that I had liked the look of and decided to try and research these. It was a starting point.
Finally, I decided to try the Plug-In-Profit-Site, I had read about Stone Evans during my research, some good and some bad reviews. But then so had all the others I researched and the Plug-In-Profit-Site (PIPS) had the smallest risk attached.
It wasn’t long after joining and although I hadn’t yet made any money, that I was convinced I had done the right thing. The reason I admire Stone Evans so much, is that He has enabled complete novices such as myself an opportunity to be financially independent by following in his footsteps. Added to this, the untold benefits, which I doubt even Stone Evans himself could ever have envisaged:-
The PIPS family - a community spirit like none I have experienced before, where everyone is keen to see everyone else succeed without financial gain for themselves.

Starting out in a www Home Business can and should be a fun and interesting pastime, provided, you have followed the basics as outlined in my earlier post: Read it again here.
So, lets remind ourselves of these basic elements:-
1. Motivation
2. Expectations
3. Resolve
4. Budget
Once you have satisfied yourself, that you have fulfilled these four elements, it is time to move on to the next stage and that is to decide your “Direction”
An MLM On Line Home Business can take on many forms, selling either your own product or service or products or services of others for which you get paid a commission . Any of these can be very lucrative, but deciding which path to take can be somewhat overwhelming. So, we need to break these down into elements, in order that we can make an informed decision.
You may already have ideas on which path you will take, for example you may have a service you wish to promote or your own product you wish to sell, but the vast majority, when starting out in a www Home Business, really don’t have any idea and are hoping to find direction from articles such as this. It is my intention as I write this article, to be honest and straight forward giving the best advice possible, based on my own personal experiences and that of respected colleagues in the industry.
If you have ever tried selling anything at all in your lifetime, be it on line or off, you will almost certainly know that it is easier to sell something you know about or something you are passionate about, rather than something you have little knowledge of. In many cases, this is the same practice you should try to employ when starting out in an MLM on line home business.
You may not have given this any thought before, but stop for a moment and think about things you enjoy doing, sports for example; tennis,football,golf, angling, or even decorating, The list can go on. Or, may be a product you use, can you see the potential for earning revenue by selling the product yourself. Are you an expert in your field? can you offer a service? for example, can you do basic programming html or are you a good writer or maybe a graphic artist? again, the list goes on.
As you can see, there are many areas you can promote in your www Home Business and after some thought, you may be able to identify your “niche”.
On the other hand however, many people just don’t have a clue where to start and which products to promote. I include myself in this category, it took me many weeks if not months of research, before finally taking the plunge! Basically, unlike yourself, I did not have the benefit of someones past experience to go on when starting out. I had to go by trial and error and had my fingers burnt a couple of times in the process. It is this experience that has inspired me to pass on my knowledge to you, the reader.
In the absence of any particular “niche” there are still many options open to you. There are many affiliate programs to join and “second income opportunities” to be found. The only problem is, which one do you join? Well in short, none. None that is, until you have researched each one in turn.
To research any program or opportunity, key in the author or owners name of the opportunity concerned into your web browser and see what results you get. Join MLM forums such as the Warrior forum, Pips Power Group forum etc. Join social marketing sites such as Wowzza. There are many more places you can do your research, but all those mentioned have within them, experienced marketers only too willing to offer assistance. So don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Once you have decided on your “niche” or opportunity to promote, you need then decide which media you use. For example, do you have a web site or do you want one to promote your product or opportunity. Some opportunities such as the Plug-In-Profit-Site offer you a free tailor made web site. Be careful here though, not all opportunities are like the Plug in profit site, which allow you to make any changes you like to the site and also allow you to promote any products you like on the site…all this for free….to get a web site designed yourself, can cost upwards of $300 or more, so this opportunity is well worth considering, even if you don’t promote it yourself.
Another media to consider, is a blog. This is probably the least expensive way to start out with your MLM on line Home Business as you can get one set up for free from blogger.com or wordpress.com. You are free to add any opportunities to your blog that you like. In this case reading the free ebook “Bloggers Guide to Profits” would be a good time investment. It is worth noting, that whilst a blog is an easy way to start MLM it should be considered a stepping stone to getting your own web site, which will give your customers more confidence in you and your products.
The final media I wish to inform you about, is PPC or pay per click advertising, the most common being Google Adwords. You don’t need a web site or even a blog to use Adwords as you can tailor an advertisement to the product you are promoting using your affiliate link. When someone clicks on the advertisement and make a purchase or subscription, you get paid. That simple.
The downside to this form of MLM, is that it can prove costly, as many other people compete for prime position of the advertisement slots. There is however one alternative that springs to mind and that I use myself even now and that is “Traffic Swarm” which need not cost you a penny. You surf other advertisements to earn credits and use those credits to buy your own advertisements. Very clever and very effective.
In summary, when breaking these elements down, one crucial factor not to lose sight of, is your budget. Remember, it is not just the financial aspect, but also the time element as well.
So here we have it:
Do your research thoroughly, choose your product or program, decide on your media. Keep everything within your budget and then you will be ready to launch your very own WWW Home Business.

Is Your Business Making Money Online?
Or are you like I was, a wannabe affiliate making money ?
Whatever online business you are in, you can have the best web site in the world, selling the best product in the world, but as sure as eggs are eggs, you won’t have a business making money online if you don’t get traffic / visitors to your web site. Sure, you can pay to get visitors, but that just makes a big hole in your profits. I am sure you realize this anyway, but do you realize the absolute importance of not just search engine optimization (SEO) but also the importance of picking the right “keywords” for your web site.
Like I said, I was once a wannabe affiliate making money, I had my site SEO’d with the keywords I had chosen. I concentrated on writing blogs , getting back links etc. and gradually day by day, I watched my search engine ranking improve until eventually, I was on page 1 of several of the major search engines including Google, for my keywords. But why wasn’t my business making money online? I couldn’t get my head round it. I had chosen what I had thought to be excellent keywords, with very little competition. So where had I gone wrong? In a nutshell, I had not listened to advice that was given to me by fellow, more experienced marketers when choosing my keywords. Foolish pride I guess, the keywords I had chosen had not been researched properly and only then, when the realization hit me after months of toil, did I choose to heed the advice given.
I went on to research some new keywords and in the process, checked on my existing ones. It was only then, that the penny really dropped. My existing keywords were showing an average “Monthly” search of around 172. I felt such a fool and it was a hard lesson to learn.
In summary, my advice to anyone who is not getting the visitors to their web site that they would like is to research your keywords. There are a number of programs which you can use, such as Wordtracker and even Google.
